Apache KafkaⓇ is at the center of software architectures, providing the infrastructure for collecting and processing events in real time—which is why we know and love it. But open-source Kafka alone doesn’t offer a simple solution for implementing a full event-streaming stack within the context of your company’s existing infrastructure.
This month, we’re excited to unveil the final launch for 2020: Complete. Together with our previous announcements, Project Metamorphosis culminates in a complete event streaming platform that enables enterprises to implement mission-critical business use cases from start to finish, and with ease.
Today, we’re excited to share new features that further deliver on that promise.
Confluent Platform
NEW CONNECTORS Easily browse, search, and filter from 120+ pre-built connectors in Confluent Hub to quickly and reliably integrate your entire IT ecosystem. Check out our latest self-managed connectors in Confluent Platform
CLUSTER LINKING Cluster Linking lets you build truly global architectures, where data streams are flowing in real time between datacenters in different regions of the world, between on premises and the cloud (i.e., hybrid cloud setups), or between different clouds for multi-cloud setups.
ksqlDB PULL QUERIES and EMBEDDED CONNECTORS Enhance real-time streaming applications with ksqlDB pull queries. Serve fast, read-optimized lookups by aggregating Kafka event streams into materialized views directly within a lightweight SQL syntax. KsqlDB also supports running connectors in an embedded setting, meaning connectors can run directly on ksqlDB servers without needing to spin up new clusters.
Confluent Cloud
NEW CONNECTORS Easily browse, search, and filter from 120+ pre-built connectors in Confluent Hub to quickly and reliably integrate your entire IT ecosystem. Check out our latest fully-managed connectors in Confluent Cloud, including AWS Lambda Sink, Google Cloud Functions Sink, and Salesforce CDC Source.
CLUSTER LINKING Cluster Linking lets you build truly global systems, with events flowing in real time between data centers in different regions of the world, between on premises installations and the cloud, or between different cloud providers. ksqlDB PULL QUERIES (Preview) Enhance real-time streaming applications with ksqlDB pull queries. Serve fast, read-optimized lookups by aggregating Kafka event streams into materialized views with a lightweight SQL syntax.
INFINITE STORAGE (GA for AWS) Cluster-level Infinite Storage simplifies capacity planning and enables advanced Kafka use cases with unlimited cluster-level data storage. Importantly, Infinite Storage allows for truly unlimited topic-level data retention. This update does not change storage pricing which is based upon all data retained. Standard and Dedicated clusters on AWS, both existing and new, are enabled with Infinite Storage as of December 1st, 2020.
